Crags Year 5+6 Vs Lilly Hall Year 5+6

Crags played a 7 a – side game which was their first match of the season. Lilly Hall started piling the pressure on early as their previous match experience showed. One particular player who is already signed to a professional Academy started pulling the strings in midfield as Lilly Hall went one nil up before half time.

Shortly after the break crags equalised with a good team goal which made the match become very open as both teams made changes looking for a winner. With the game drawing to an end Crags managed to score on the break making it 2-1 with only 2 minutes to go sending the crowd wild. A shocked Lilly Hall had little time to respond as they suffered a rare defeat. It was a fantastic spectacle with both teams showing a great attitude. Well done to both sides and a special mention must go to the Crags team who recorded a victory in their first game.  The new management team of Mr Cartwright and Mr Snow were very impressed with everyone who took part and look forward to an enjoyable season

Result: Crags 2 - 1 Lilly Hall

A big thank you to Rotherham United, for allowing some of the children to take a tour around the stadium. Also allowing them to take part in some activities.  The children helped raise funds by selling raffle tickets to parents and also sold popcorn during morning breaks to children for one week.

Crags Year 5+6 Vs Maltby Redwood Year 5+6

Crags entertained Maltby Redwood for the second time this season in a 7 a-side match. Unfortunately Redwood could on bring 5 players due to some of their team being off school with illness. As Crags had a squad of 8 players it was decided by joint managers Mr Cartwright and Mr Snow that 2 players would play for the opposition. This resulted in the game being 7 Vs 6 players with Redwood having the advantage of the extra man.

As the game kicked off Crags looked the brightest and took an early lead. Soon after, another goal was scored by the home side as they started to dominate. It was one-way traffic as Crags scored again making it 3 nil before the interval. In the second half Redwood started making the extra player count as they pulled one back before Crags scored another going 4-1 up. This quickly became 5-1 until late on when Redwood scored a second through a Crags player making the final result 5-2 to Crags. Both teams showed great team spirit and sportsmanship throughout the match. Well done to both teams.

Crags Year 5+6 Vs Whiston Worrygoose Year 5+6

Crags year 5/6 football team welcomed Whiston Worrygoose to play an 8 a-side match on Monday 20th May 2013. It was a pulsating game with end to end action. Whiston were quickly out of the blocks and raced into a 2 nil lead, before Crags managed to pull a goal back. Worrygoose responded with another goal making it 3-1 on the evening but the home side kept pressing, and managed to get a second goal making it 3-2 before the half time whistle.

After a stern team talk from joint managers Mr Cartwright and Mr Snow, Crags flew out the traps and began to pile on the pressure putting Whiston on the back foot. Their efforts were rewarded with a much deserved equaliser. Suddenly Crags took the lead for the first time going 4-3 up in the process. Whiston then managed to score a screamer in the top corner on the counter attack leaving the game on a knife edge at 4-4. Late chances were spurned at both ends as the match finished a 4-4 draw which on the whole was a fair reflection on the game. Well done to both teams who were a credit to their respective schools.
