Crags Community School

Mini Police

South Yorkshire Police & Volunteer Police Cadets have launched a Mini Police scheme for our Year 5 pupils. Since 2020 our children in Y5 and some in Y6 have been selected through an application and interview experience to become Mini-police Officers following with their induction and oath.

Police Officers, Police staff and other agencies work with the Mini Police officers to teach various important messages.   These messages are then delivered to the rest of the school community. This include issues such as the role of the Police and other emergency services, internet safety and monitoring the parking and the speed of vehicles around our school.

South Yorkshire Police provide a Mini Police Uniform for children to wear and also a noticeboard within school for us to display any important information.  The Mini Police also help at community events such as summer fayres, community litter picks etc.

As a reward for all their hard work, when children have completed the programme they will be invited to a Rewards Day.  They also get to visit Police buildings and meet Police officers, see Police vehicles and maybe even Police animals!
