Art and Design
Crags Art and Design Curriculum
At Crags Community School our creative curriculum is shaped by our whole school vision, which aims to enable all, regardless of background, ability or additional needs, to flourish and to become the very best that they can be. In Art and Design children will explore the five different strands of art, drawing, painting, sculpture, textile and printing through focused lessons on the 7 art elements, line, shape, form, space, texture, colour and tone. In addition children will study the works of diverse artists, architects and designers from history.
The national curriculum for art and design aims to ensure that all pupils:
- produce creative work, exploring their ideas and recording their experiences
- become proficient in drawing, painting, sculpture and other art, craft and design techniques
- evaluate and analyse creative works using the language of art, craft and design
- know about great artists, craft makers and designers, and understand the historical and cultural development of their art forms
