Friday Update - 27.03.20

Dear Families

We hope you are all safe and well and have managed to take some time to rest and recover this week.

Home Learning

All classes will have a new home learning sheet for next week.  These will be uploaded to the school website and shared on each class teachers twitter page ready for Monday morning.  Each child has also been given a log in for See Saw.  This is a programme which allows teachers to upload work and resources to support with the home learning plan.  Teachers can comment on the work and children can share what they have completed at home.  Access to the website can be found here - SeeSaw.  If you need any help with accessing the programme then please let us know so we can help you - here is a guide to getting started with the app - How to use the SeeSaw app.  It has been great to see how many of you are already using this!

Please follow the school twitter page @CragsSchool for quick updates. On each class page there will also be a list of recommended websites to help you at home and details of how to access each class twitter page.  You can also keep fit with Mr Vickers and Mr Wallace by completing their daily activities @CragsPe.  We must once again stress that children should not have twitter pages, these are parents only.

Free School Meals

The school will continue to provide a chilled choice option for families eligible for free school meals to come and collect them from the school.  Please contact school before 9.30am on the day you wish to collect the lunch.

Childcare Arrangements

Over the coming week we will be liaising with individual families directly to discuss what their childcare need is.  The school continue to offer childcare provision to support our most vulnerable families and those children of key workers essential to us at this time.  All children should otherwise remain at home unless you are unable to keep them safe.  Further guidance can be found on the links below.

Take Care and stay safe over the weekend

Guidance for Schools

Monday 23.03.2020

Dear Families,

After reflecting over the weekend on what has been the most challenging of times for schools, nothing could have prepared us for what we are all facing.  We are all in this together and are trying to do our best for our families, friends and the communities in which we live and work.  The digital world will help us to do this now moreso than ever.

We hope that you are all safe and well and that you have now received your home learning packs thanks to staff taking the time to deliver these around the community this morning.  New learning plans for each week will be posted on each individual class page on the website ready for the start of the following week.

Each class has their own twitter page so please give their page a follow, as your child’s class teacher will be posting regularly.  We must stress that children should not create their own accounts – this is a platform for you to use and share with your children.  We would also love to see what your children have been doing at home so please share this with us! Every child also has access to See-Saw which is a platform for children to access work set by the teacher and for teachers to interact with comments.

We are determined and committed to keeping in touch with our families as much as possible, but please remember to use these resources appropriately – and also remember our Staff have their own families to look after too!

Free School Meals

The school is able to offer a chilled choice sandwich option for any children who are in receipt of free school meals.  Please contact school if you wish to collect a lunch for the following day or as soon as possible on the day they are required.  We will give you further information about collection when you make contact.

We do not know what the timescales will be for this situation but we will keep you updated at every opportunity.  In the meantime, be safe and be kind - this is not easy for anyone.

Take care of yourselves

Update 22.03.2020

As of week commencing Monday 23rd March 2020 the school currently remains open only to those children whose families wish/need their children to be here.  The school will not be delivering any curriculum teaching and children will not be accessing classes as normal, this will be a childcare provision in place to support those, including the most vulnerable and children of key workers essential to us at this time (see below guidance for criteria).  There is no statutory requirement for recording of attendance/absence for those children remaining at home now until further notice as school is considered closed. Current guidance continues to state that all children should remain at home unless you are unable to keep them safe.

For key workers and families needing to bring their children, on arrival to school we will be asking you to complete a form sharing details of reasons for accessing the childcare provision, to ensure we can record information and attendance that we are now required by the DfE to report daily.  We await regular updates from the local authority and Government and will keep you informed of any changes as we face them.  Please be patient - the school will act as quickly as it can to keep up with changes and do everything we can to support our community at this time.  Further information will be available regarding free school meal support and home learning tomorrow.
